TSG Staff Giving Back in Offseason

Spotlight on Kaylyn Brown: Empowering Girls Through Softball Around the World

At THE Spring Games, we’re proud to celebrate not only the athletes and teams that take the field each year but also the incredible members of our staff who live and breathe the mission of growing the game of softball. This month, we’re highlighting Kaylyn Brown, whose passion for the sport extends far beyond the diamond.

Recently, Kaylyn joined Athletes in Action Softball on a life-changing mission trip to Chiang Mai, Thailand, where she helped introduce the sport of softball to communities that had never experienced the game before.

Over the course of the trip, Kaylyn and a team of 14 collegiate athletes worked with four local schools, launching softball as part of their physical education programs. For many of the nearly 300 students they reached, this was their very first introduction to the sport. “Watching them be active, feels like we are creating new habits for them and encouraging a healthy lifestyle,” Kaylyn shared. “Seeing them learn a new sport—especially one we all love so much—is really humbling and fun. Those lightbulb moments when something clicks are the best.”

The team also partnered with the Thai National Softball Team, conducting clinics, playing friendly games, and hosting demonstration matches to help elevate the game locally.

But the trip wasn’t just about softball—it was also about service and impact. One of the most meaningful moments came when Kaylyn and her team donated a five-faucet water filtration system to Maijireet Christian Chiang Mai School, a campus without access to clean drinking water. This single donation will dramatically improve the daily lives of students, helping prevent waterborne illness and reducing the need for constant medication.

Beyond the physical benefits of introducing softball, the team learned that sports can open doors for Thai youth, providing opportunities to travel, connect with new cultures, and even pursue future careers. Kaylyn hopes the seeds planted on this trip inspire new dreams for the next generation of Thai girls, empowering them both on and off the field.

For Kaylyn, the experience was a powerful reminder of why she loves this game: softball is more than a sport—it’s a tool for connection, empowerment, and hope. At THE Spring Games, we are inspired by her commitment to spreading the joy of the game worldwide and making a difference wherever softball takes her.
